The Commissioner of Official Languages for New Brunswick, Michel Carrier, said that the provincial government does not respond fully to its obligation to provide bilingual services.
New Brunswick is the only officially bilingual province in Canada.
Mr. Carrier maintains that, despite repeated requests for a framework strategy for compliance with the Official Languages Act, the various institutions pronviciales does not always take seriously.
In its annual report filed Tuesday, Michel Carrier said to be particularly disappointed by the reaction of the Ministry of Justice, which often slow to make available in both languages decisions and judgments are rendered.
The Ministry argued that no change is necessary, but which he stresses that the majority of decisions are published in English, which disadvantage francophones significantly.
