High Speed Internet


The Internet at high speed, waited for years in the Gaspésie, could be operational as early as March 2009.

At least the goal that set the regional conference of elected officials (CRE) of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

According to Bertrand Berger, president of the organization, the federal government awaits the end of the Quebec election campaign to announce that it will be a financial partner in the project.

Ottawa's response is to wait for several months.

The agency also believes that the service could be available for almost all Gaspesians within a year.

The CRE of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine will also launch a tender next week for a study engineering in order to identify where the transmitters could be installed .

In addition, Quebec has already indicated that a maximum of one and a half million dollars was reserved for the installation of high-speed Internet in the Gaspe.

The project has a delay of six months from its schedule.
